I’ve always been comfortable with my skin, I have been lucky enough to not suffer from acne or any sort of major spotting on the face. I generally only get one little spot maybe every 4 months and i’m grateful for that! But recently I noticed that my forehead had all the sudden been coming up with bumps, not pimples, not spots – but just teeny weeny tiny bumps that I couldn’t for the life of me get rid of. For some people they wouldn’t have been that noticeable, but for me, I could see the difference, and even make up couldn’t cover it up, the rest of my skin was full of radiance, but all eyes were drawn towards my bumpy forehead with it’s mini inverted crater family!

I find happiness in my skin when it’s healthy and glowing because it makes me feel good – when my skin looks radiant, I feel radiant, and I feel happy! Like anyone, I like my skin to be clear (not just for aesthetic reasons, but also because I like to know my skin is actually clean in there, it’s kind of gross when you think about how spots form.. clutters of old, left-over dirt all built up!). After going for an impromptu visit to the Cowshed Spa for a speedy facial, I learnt that some of these tiny bumps were in fact ‘milia’ – a term I have never even heard of before. After weeks of over-cleansing and toning to frantically get rid of these things, I finally took the plunge and went for a full bespoke facial where I really learnt about the problems of my skin and what I needed from a specialist. The bespoke facial lasted one hour, and consisted of micro-dermabrasion, a green peel fresh-up, steam and pore extraction, milia removal, and oxygen therapy. I’ve been taking care of my skin since by using this Dermalogica set every morning and night (I used to use nothing but Lancôme products, so this is an update) – and I have really seen a major improvement! Below I outline each product I have been using daily for the past three weeks, and how i’m using them:

#001 Dermalogica Essential Cleansing Solution HERE

I use this every morning and evening to ensure that I have removed all traces of dirt from the skin. I simply apply the product to a damp face, and rub it into the skin in upward circular motions as suggested on the bottle, not too harshly, but with just the right amount of pressure to pick up dirt from the skin. I have been taught that it’s good to always double cleanse. The first cleanse is to remove debris and dirt from the surface of the skin, followed by a quick rinse, and then a repeated cleanse to really remove any left over dirt that wasn’t picked up in that first round of cleansing. This means I technically cleanse 4 times a day, and I strongly believe this has helped my skin improve. Before, I was using a general daily drugstore cleanser once, or using cotton pads and micellar water to wipe off my make-up (this was definitely not sufficient cleansing for picking up all remaining dirt, and led to a major build up – causing my milia case!). Also note, 2-3 times a week I follow this stage by using the blackhead Clearing Pore Control Scrub.

 #002 Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner HERE

As you’ll know, whenever you cleanse, you’ll need to tone afterwards! I used to tone my skin by dabbing the product on a cotton pad and applying this to my skin, almost in a wiping motion across my face. I feel like this didn’t help my skin, especially as my cleansing step wasn’t very thorough – this meant I was probably dragging dirt from one side of my face to the other! I’ve now switched to this spray toner. I dab a clean towel on my face after cleansing, and then evenly spray this multi-active toner on my face (it smells SO good). I immediately follow this up with the next stage …

#003 Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance HERE

After spraying on the Multi-Active Toner, I immediately apply a pea-sized amount of this moisturiser on my face. I say a pea-size because I was told that the skin on my forehead may have been clogged up because I was using too much moisturiser. I rub this product over my face making sure not to leave any inch out, and focus on the areas that are really lacking moisture (like my forehead!).

#004 Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair HERE

I follow the moisturising process, focusing on the eye area last. This is the most delicate area of the face – don’t be too harsh! I simply dab the tiniest amount of this under my eyes, and sometimes over my lids for some extra hydration. I’ve noticed my dark circles almost disappearing after using this for 2 weeks, that area of my face really showed that I wasn’t hydrated enough – I looked like a panda without make-up!

The mini set HERE has all the products included above (plus exfoliator) and is roughly £26 – a perfect deal if you’re just looking to try them out.
