THE WATERFALL JACKET
I adore everything about this beautiful waterfall jacket from Charlotte London, and I have done since I set eyes on it from the company’s Instagram months back. Here are the reasons of why I adore this jacket so much:
#001 Its Versatility
Firstly, the jacket pleasantly combines formal with casual wear: Team it with a pair of jeans, and you’ve got a clean-finished casual look going on, team it with a pare of flared suit trousers like above, and you’ve got the perfect work event attire. In addition to this, it’s definitely the type of item that can really finish off a day or night look, I’m really loving the jacket at the moment as it’s a transitional piece – perfect for those Spring days where it’s beginning to get warm, but that gentle breeze is still lurking 😉
#002 The Front Detailing
The waterfall front detail makes the jacket super playful and relaxed. This alone successfully helps with pairing the jacket with a casual top/dress as well as a formal one (an issue that I sometimes have with more boxy-styled jackets).
#003 The Neutral Colouring
To sum up, my wardrobe is pretty much made up of white, black, cream and blush pink pieces. I’m a lover of warm and welcoming tones (although I’m also beginning to warm up to bold-coloured accessories as we lean into Spring). The fact that the shaping and neutral colouring of this jacket combined are so versatile means that it’s easy to style with existing pieces. I love that the jacket is white, and these hints of gold on the main body and hardware are not overpowering at all, but delightfully add detail to an outfit as well as preventing the jacket from feeling too plain. I just had to team the gold accents with these gold jewellery pieces from H&M and Audaviv – perfect!
#004 The Materiality
The fact that the jacket is white tweed really adds texture to your outfit. I usually like a clean look, and with that, unintentionally, I tend to purchase items made up of polyester or cotton for their sleek and smooth finish in the warmer months, like these pastel pink trousers from Zara. Styling this tweed jacket with them really adds character to the outfit and anyway, it’s always fun to play around with textures, no? I haven’t worn tweed in a while, but this jacket has definitely gotten me back into it!
#005 The Lightness
If there’s anything makes styling difficult for me – it’s choosing what coat to wear. Enter scenario: According to my iPhone, it’s apparently warm out today, but I do usually get into central London regretting to have left my jacket on my bed in last-minute doubt because I’m freezing cold and the fact that I have to stay out here for another 6 hours makes me want to cry! I absolutely cannot stand having extra weight to carry – my bag is already full, my camera is weighing me down, I don’t have room and I certainly don’t want to bring a gigantic bag with me on the London Underground tube so I can carry everything under one handle – it’s too packed for that! aaargh – exit. Seriously though, it is so nice to have a simple light jacket to prepare for any irritating breeze when out for long hours, and one that doesn’t crease when it’s folded into a bag is a plus – this jacket is my life saviour!
Trust me, I’m going to be wearing this transitional piece a lot this Spring/Summer, it’ll pair so nicely with my other Spring pieces – the yellow, the blush pink and the whites! I love this outfit, mixing the jacket with the blush pink trousers and heels – I feel like a piece of candy haha, makes me feel all happy and light. This jacket also comes in black, and Charlotte London have a whole collection of other beautiful full blazers and jackets to choose from on their website – Check them out!
Happy Easter Weekend – speak soon, K.
