FASHION WEEK MODE
For those who think London Fashion Week is over – it’s not! London Fashion Week Festival (formally recognised as London Fashion Weekend) still lives on until tomorrow. This year, The Store Studios holds the event serving as the fashion and cultural hub in the heart of London. LFWF is an event where anyone can become a fashion insider – you’ll need to purchase a ticket, but you do not necessarily require that “insider” pass as a professional stylist or fashion editor to gain entrance. If you’re not so familiar with the fashion world, or if you’ve never attended a fashion event and feel pressure from the prestigiousness (don’t you worry, wear whatever you want and don’t you worry about it!), i’d highly recommend LFWF to ease you in – it’s a fashion week experience that can feel less intimidating and more welcoming for you in contrast to the other FW events on-going this season.
How do you get in?
You purchase a ticket with a 3 hour time slot to the event, there are 3 time slots per each event day. You will need to choose one of the various entrance passes available (bronze, silver, gold, or luxe) in accordance with the level of experience you want from the event (eg. ‘Luxe’ tickets include a front row seat for the catwalks, entrance to the VIP Lounge, plus many other perks!).
With a Silver, Gold or Luxe ticket, you can choose a catwalk (or two!) to attend on the day. The catwalks last approximately 30-45 minutes, and you’ll have a choice of a ‘Designer’ or ‘Trend’ catwalk. One day of the event is dedicated to one of four Designers chosen. The selected Designers this year were Osman, Mother of Pearl, Huishan Zhang, + Teatum Jones. Today I attended a Trend catwalk – LFWF have partnered with Avenue 32 to select and showcase the must-buy Spring and Summer 2017 trends.
LFWF holds a Talk Programme that you’ll need to book in advance if you want to attend. The talks range from a series of Q&A interviews, masterclasses, + discussions with industry experts. Be sure to check the schedule before your event and book as soon as you can as they get filled up easily. You can join a talk if it is not fully booked, but i’ll just inform you that in most cases ..it is.
Between the talks and the catwalks, from dainty jewellery to statement blouses, you can roam around the venue and shop away finding key pieces to add to your spring/summer wardrobe. The LFWF shopping experience caters to men and women, with both various styles and budgets.
We had so much fun at this event today – be sure to attend next season’s if you missed out on this one, I may see you there! 😉 Also, watch this space for a summary on the S/S17 key trends to look out for, with pieces captured from the S/S17 Trend Catwalk that I attended today. I’m so excited to adopt more of these trends into my current style book! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, K.
