How beautiful is this place? It’s a hidden gem in London! This is the House & Gardens of Chiswick, located in West London not far at all from where we live. It’s so picturesque and charming, people even host their weddings here. The garden was originally designed to symbolically recreate the gardens of Ancient Rome, there’s some further history about this in the conservatory. If you live on London or are visiting from elsewhere, this is the kind of place which feels exquisitely British, yet isn’t too touristy (at least not during my visits..). I’m pretty sure it’s an English Heritage site – it has to be!
You could spend about half an hour to a couple of hours here. It depends what you’re visiting for. A lot of locals stop by the relax and take a stroll. There’s the entire grounds to walk through, and the conservatory with various plants and flowers which you can read and learn about. You can also take a peak inside the house (shown above) and museum (we didn’t go inside but I assume there is a small entrance fee). Right by the house there is a cafe open to the public, serving homemade cakes and scones, and of course, tea!
Sorry there’s only a couple of photos – it did rain a lot just after I took these shots, and I had no protection on the camera. I’ll get more next time 🙂
Hope you’re having a great week – thanks for reading!
